FAQ’s

A. The owner is requested to take out as much of the smaller, personal and valuable items as possible. The team will help with the larger furniture items if necessary.

Q. How long will the job take?

A. For a normal sanding and polishing with minimal repairs it will take two days for a single room and an average size home of three bedrooms, a lounge/dining room and passage it would take two to three days. For a larger home no longer than four days.

Q. Do we lift carpets?

A. Yes we do. We remove the carpet, the under felt, all glue and the gripper strip on the edges. We then fill in all nail holes with matching wood filler.

Q. Is there a lot of dust?

A. All our machines have dust bags attached to them and about 98% of all dust is collected. However, before we put the first coat of varnish on we make sure the area is completely clean and dust free.

Q. Does the varnish have a smell?

A. The water based varnish we use the majority of times has no smell, but other specific products do leave an odour which will disappear once the varnish is dry and the room has been well ventilated.

Q. Does the varnish have a gloss or matt finish?

A. There is a range of matt, silk matt and gloss in most of the ranges of products that we use.

A. Dust mites thrive in carpets and under veldt. With the removal of the carpets, sanding and varnishing – the dust mite will be reduced and result in a cleaner more allergy free house. There are other types of household bugs that may need fumigation and if this is required the process will be discussed and arranged as part of our service.

Q. It the process noisy?

A. The industrial machines we use are noisy but once the initial sanding is completed, the hand sanding, vacuuming and application of the 3 layers of varnish is quieter.

Q. When should I have my floors sanded?

A. When renovating a building it is always better to do the floors last. If painting the room, it would be better to do the floors last with the exception of the final coat of paint on the skirting which will need to be done at the very end.

Q. Is the work supervised?

A. Yes. For the majority of the time one of my two highly trained supervisors will be on site. If not actually on site they will not be far away during the entire process.

Q. When do we pay you?

A. Depending on the work to be completed, you may need to pay a deposit for materials or one payment once the work has been completed.
